Recorder Player & Teacher
Performance
I have studied both early and contemporary music, and I have a particular interest in working with composers on new works for recorder. This process always teaches me something new about my instruments and lets me explore new possibilities in what both I and the recorder can do. Collaborations have included composers Lillie Harris (Dormientes Bestia) and Andrew Crossley (Mandalas 1-4) on solo projects, as well as contemporary ensemble La Tache.
Since 2014 I have been a member of award-winning recorder quartet BLOCK4, who perform an eclectic mixture of both early consort music and contemporary works. As well as new music, I love to play renaissance consort music with ensembles both small and large. Besides recorder consort, I have performed with the Armonico Consort, and the choir of Christ Church, Chelsea, and founded the London-based mixed consort Vecchi Venti.
Music Teaching
I believe playing an instrument can be for anyone; we all have the ability to make, learn and - most of all - enjoy music!
My lessons are fun, friendly and encouraging. I want my students to enjoy the learning process and get creative with their own music making. Lessons are tailored to each individual, and are suitable for both children and adults of all ability levels.
I use a range of printed materials that I have tried out and selected over many years, as well as some that I have developed myself. I currently do not put all my students through music performance exams as a matter of course, but I am happy to discuss any specific goals you may have.

music workshops and outreach
I have taught individual and group lessons since 2014, when I started teaching during my music studies in London. I have worked in schools as well as giving private lessons both in England and Germany, and have met and worked with hundreds of students in that time, helping them towards concerts, exams, conservatoire education, and other personal goals.
From 2015-2019 I was a member of the British scheme, Live Music Now, for young professional musicians. As part of this scheme I received training in outreach and education, and gave workshops and courses for schools - including SEN schools - hospitals, and family groups. I have continued working in outreach with recorder ensemble BLOCK4, leading music workshops around the UK and online, encouraging young people to take an interest in the recorder.
I am also qualified as an Alexander Technique teacher and an English teacher, which has given me a broad range of experience to draw on in my teaching work. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from the Royal College of Music, where I studied recorder and baroque flute.
